Listening Past the First Chorus
A hook can earn attention. The rest of the song has to decide what to do with it.

The first chorus is where a modern single makes its promise. It tells the listener the emotional scale, the phrase to remember and usually the reason to stay.
The more revealing moment arrives later. Does the bridge deepen the idea or only raise the volume? Does the final chorus carry evidence from the verses, or does it return unchanged because the production has already spent everything?
A strong song rewards the attention its hook acquired. Listening past the first chorus is how we find out whether the record has an argument or only an entrance.
