Editorial policy

Six commitments that govern everything published here.

  1. 01We do not invent quotes

No sentence appears inside quotation marks unless it was said or written publicly by the person it is attributed to. Where we describe intent, we are reading the record, and the writing makes that explicit.

  2. 02Reporting and reading are labelled differently

Interviews are marked as interviews. Analysis of an arrangement, a lyric or a release strategy is presented as our reading — informed, arguable, and open to disagreement.

  3. 03No paid placement

Coverage is never sold. Submissions are read by the music desk and are not prioritised by payment, label size or promotional spend.

  4. 04Songs link to official releases

We do not host audio. Every song links to the official release on Spotify, credited exactly as the artists released it.

  5. 05Corrections are permanent

When we get something wrong we fix it and say what changed. Corrections are appended to the piece rather than quietly absorbed into it.

  6. 06We write about people carefully

This music is often made out of grief, recovery and faith. We report those contexts only where the artist has made them public, and we do not use a private life as a hook.

Think we've missed something, or got something wrong? Tell us.
