The Courage to Leave Space in a Worship Song
Silence does not interrupt the arrangement. Sometimes it is the arrangement.

Worship production is good at filling a room. The harder skill is recognizing when the room has enough—when another pad, harmony or spoken cue would make the moment smaller rather than larger.
Space gives the congregation time to hear itself. It lets a lyric arrive before the next one explains it. It makes restraint visible as a decision.
The empty bar is a form of trust: in the melody, in the listener and in whatever does not need to be manufactured next.
