Why Testimony Songs Age Well
A specific life gives a listener somewhere concrete to stand.
A testimony song does not begin by trying to describe everyone. It begins with a before and an after, a river crossed, a room left, or a sentence the singer could not have said a year earlier.
That specificity is why the form travels. Listeners do not need to share the details to recognize movement. The story supplies a shape sturdy enough to carry lives very different from the one in the verse.
General encouragement expires quickly. A well-told change keeps sounding newly possible.
