From the Sanctuary to the Headphones
Faith music now has to work in a shared room and in the private hour after it.

The sanctuary asks a song to be legible at first hearing. Headphones reward the detail that appears on the tenth. Those demands once belonged to different catalogues; increasingly they sit inside the same release.
This changes the arrangement. A chorus may stay portable while the verses become conversational. Programmed texture can reward private listening without taking the melody away from a room.
The most durable records do not choose between public and private faith. They understand that the same listener needs music for both.
