The collective was a scheduling solution before it was an aesthetic. It became an aesthetic anyway.

“In The Room” is the clean example: four credited names, overlapping entrances, and no obvious hierarchy in the mix. The song's meaning is partly carried by that structure.

The influence

Long credit lists are now standard across worship releases. Most of them are features. Maverick City's are closer to ensembles, which is a harder thing to organize and a more interesting thing to hear.
