NEW & NOTEWORTHY
Phil Wickham Sounds Restless
“Homesick For Heaven” is the outlier in a catalogue built on settled awe.
Homesickness is not awe. It is discomfort with the present, and the song lets that discomfort sit in the melody rather than resolving it in the chorus.
The record finds a writer widening his emotional vocabulary two decades in.
