CeCe Winans featuring Shirley Caesar won Best Gospel Performance/Song for “Come Jesus Come” at the 68th Grammy Awards. Brandon Lake won Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”

Darrel Walls and PJ Morton's Heart Of Mine took Best Gospel Album. The field around the winners was unusually wide, with Tasha Cobbs Leonard and John Legend, Jonathan McReynolds and Jamal Roberts, Pastor Mike Jr., Kirk Franklin and others nominated across the Gospel performance category.

Awards do not settle the shape of a genre, but this slate captured the useful tension inside it: church-rooted live performance, pop-scale writing, legacy voices and collaborations that move past the old Christian/secular border.
