BEHIND THE SONG
Behind “The Truth”
Megan Woods — pop structure with an uncomfortable word at the center.
The chorus lands fast, which is the format's requirement. What is unusual is where it lands: on a word the song then refuses to resolve away from.
Most pop writing treats a difficult noun as a station on the way to comfort. Here the lyric keeps circling back to it, and the production keeps the arrangement bright enough that the circling never turns into brooding.
The tension
Bright music, unresolved subject. That mismatch is doing deliberate work — it is the sound of someone stating something they have not finished accepting.
