Why Hymns Keep Coming Back
A hymn survives because it was designed to be carried by people, not protected by one recording.

Old songs return for reasons beyond nostalgia. Their melodies were tested without amplification, their language learned by repetition, and their ownership spread across rooms that never knew the original performer.
A new recording succeeds when it understands that shared ownership. The arrangement can change, but it should leave enough of the song intact for memory to enter without asking permission.
The hymn is not a museum object. It is a durable piece of public language, renewed each time a new voice makes room for all the older ones.
