What a Bridge Is Actually For

The bridge should change the meaning of the return, not simply make it louder.

Many worship bridges are built as launch ramps. The words become shorter, the harmony holds, and the arrangement gathers enough force to send the final chorus through the ceiling.

Energy is useful, but it is not structure. A bridge earns its place when it introduces a perspective the chorus did not yet have: a cost, a consequence, a reason the declaration matters now.

When the chorus returns, it should sound altered by what happened between. Otherwise the bridge was only a volume control.
